Jevon Langford the great grandson of the legendary Sam Langford grew up around  boxing.

He remembers the days his father would teach him boxing in the basement and back yard of their Washington D.C. home.  "My brother Carlos was the boxer of the family" says Jevon. Carlos had the skills and the promising boxing future but street life got the better of him.  After high school Jevon opted for a career in professional football and decided boxing was not for him.  Jevon played his college football at Oklahoma State and was drafted by  the Cincinnati Bengal's in 1996 where he currently plays defensive end.  Jevon is the type of person where he has to be the best in what he does and decided to stay in training all Summer long.

Langford's agent, Peter Schaffer brought Aurelio Martinez into the picture to assist Langford in an off season training program.  Martinez a trainer and manager of professional fighters worked with Langford utilizing a professional boxers routine.  "Jevon knows a little about boxing,  he knows how to throw punches and has good boxing posture." reports Martinez.  "He (Langford) will be in great shape when he returns to Cincinnati for training camp."

Langford's desire and love for the sport of boxing was starting to rise.  "I want to train as if I were training for a real fight." Langford tells Martinez.  Martinez agreed and stepped up the training and proper dieting.  "I knew he was for real when I decided to have him spar."  says Martinez.  I have worked other professional athletics in the past but very seldom will we ever get to the point where I would let them actually spar with another fighter.  Martinez allowed Langford to spar with an experienced professional heavyweight knowing an experienced fighter would know not to hurt Langford should he get into trouble.  Although tight and tentative Langford held his own and was never in any danger of being hurt.

"Langford has the skills and talent to become not only a contender but a world champion."  "I know you hear this from every trainer with a heavyweight but you watch this guy fight and you be the judge!"  Said Martinez.
