Barber Wins NABF Crown, Morales keeps his 0

DENVER (IB - September 20, 2008) - Jennifer Barber slugged it out for eight rounds with Brooke Dierdorff and came out with the NABF strap around her waist. It looked as if it were going to be a close fight for the first couple of rounds as a game Dierdorff elected to go toe to toe with Barber. good even exchanges is what we had  but then in the third round Barber started to become precise with her punching. Dierdorff remained game and never gave up but just did not have answer for the quickness of Barber. Barber ran away with the fight from the forth round out even dropping Dierdorff in round seven.

Barber wins on all scorecards and betters her record to 8-0 while Dierdorff drops to 4-4-1

In the Co-Main we had an all out war by two undefeated fighters not willing to lose. At the end of  five rounds of non stop action Jose Morales (5-0) has his hand lifted in victory with a split decision win over Jairo Delgado (3-1).

Morales typically a slow starter did not surprise anyone but fought competitively keeping the rounds close but Delgado throwing more punches seemed to have the edge.  The third round fans can see the tide changing as Morales became more active and started to utilize a good jab followed with combinations. In the fifth round Morales was the fighter going for the gusto, barrage of punches had Delgado hanging on as Morales finishes the fight big and wins by split decision. Definitely a crown pleasing contest.

Anthony Turner (3-0) fighting with new trainer Frankie Sanchez defeated Julio Lanzas (5-16) with a majority Decision. Marcos Herrera (4-0) defeats Guadalupe Guzman (3-4) with a unanimous decision. Shawn Nichols (1-0) wins his pro debut with a knock out over Kris Coe (0-2) in the first round. Tommy Atencio (1-0) breaks into the world of professional boxing as he puts Richard Flores (3-12) down with a solid shot to the body in round one.
