CAMARENA AGREES TO FIGHT ARNAOUTIS
Arnaoutis has second thoughts
By Moncayo Blackbull
DENVER, Colorado (April 29, 2005) - Call him the D-Boss, call him 2-Slick
2-Quick or call him Lord of the Ring but don’t call him out, as Mike Arnaoutis
has. Team Arnaoutis has gone on record saying Donald Camarena is acting like a
man that is running scared.
Camarena fresh off his victory over James Crayton has added the WBC Continental
Americas title to his collection of belts. In addition to his new bling, he’s
the current WBC World Youth, WBC Intercontinental Mundo Hispano and the
Canadian-American-Mexican champion.
Scared? I don’t think so, at the post press conference following the victory
over Crayton, Camarena was quick to point out he was looking forward to fighting
Arnaoutis in July. Aurelio Martinez, Camarena’s trainer and manager added, “You
have to be careful what you wish for. Mike, you wanted Donald and now you got
him!”
Martinez told us he thought the fight against Arnaoutis was a done deal. “We
agreed, we signed, and the only thing left is Mike’s signature on the dotted
line.”
It was after Camarena’s win over Crayton that he was informed that it did not
look as if Arnaoutis was willing to fight Camarena anymore. A man running
scared?
Martinez said he talked to Arnaoutis’ manager Mike Michaels and that Arnaoutis
wanted to fight Camarena but told him there was a problem as to who would
promote the fight. Arnaoutis is not bound to any promoter nor is Camarena so
what’s the problem? “Lip service, just a bunch of lip service. I don’t care who
promotes the fight, I’ll promote the fight myself.” said Martinez.
“I’m told a different opponent will be found for Donald’s July fight. We called
Mike’s bluff and that’s all it was, a bluff. We won’t wait on Mike, we’ll move
ahead.” Said Martinez.
