THE DE LA HOYA BASHER BANDWAGON OVERLOADED

How any member of the media justify calling a true warrior a "chicken".  Oscar De La Hoya  has accomplished many feats during his professional boxing career.  As an amateur he made the American people proud by bringing home the Olympic Gold Medal.  The only United States boxer to win a gold medal at the 1992 Olympic Games.  After the Olympic Games some 300 U.S. athletes went to the White House.  De La Hoya was one of five chosen to personally meet President George Bush.  It was then, De La Hoya received the nick name "Golden Boy".  Americans are indeed a proud people.  As a professional he has won five world titles in four different weight classes.

De La Hoya in his first professional fight knocked out Lamar Williams in the first round.  What was even more impressive than the knock out itself was the better than 6,600 proud Americans in attendance.  And by the way, Hispanics can be Americans.  Fifteen and a half months after his professional debut De La Hoya won his first world title twelve fights into his professional boxing career.  By this time the Nay Sayers were starting to blossom.  His fan base had brought a new breed of boxing fans, your wife, daughters, girlfriends and sisters.

Was not long after, the name calling started "Chicken".  Made popular by boxing writer Michael Katz.  Now it seems every boxing writer feels obligated to tell the world how much of a phony they feel De La Hoya is.  The man lost a controversial decision to Felix Trinidad whom most everyone has in the top five of their pound for pound ratings.  The man lost a close fight to Shane Mosley by a split decision whom most everyone has at the top of the pound for pound list.  Chicken?

I guess the whole "chicken" started because he would not give Pernell Whitaker a rematch.  The decision not to give Whitaker a rematch has resulted in over One Hundred Million Dollars in purse money for De La Hoya, not a bad management decision.  I wonder how many fighters are in line for Katz to manage their careers?

Now the Katz has turned on boxing writers who do not agree with his views insinuating they are fakes or pretenders.  In a recent article he said De La Hoya has alienated most of the "real" media.  I honestly believe under all that King of the Beast writing, Katz is just as tame as cute little pussy cats.

De La Hoya has a habit of putting his foot in his mouth.  He says things like I did this for boxing, I this and I that.  And lately De La Hoya gives the impression that when he won, he won and when he lost, his trainers lost the fight for him.  Not what the public really wants to hear.

The De La Hoya basher bandwagon is quite crowded, some of you might want to jump off and let the Pussy Katz get a little oxygen to the brain.  But don't take this story serious it's not for "real" it's fake and is only pretends.
