Leija dominates flamboyant Camacho Jr. as the New York State Boxing Commission continues to disgrace itself.

Jesse James Leija proved to the world what was already suspected: Hector Camacho Jr. is a fraud.

Camacho starts the fight like a champion, aggressive and willing as he comes out of his corner in dominant fashion. Camacho's confidence was short lived and lasted about a minute. As he exchanged punches with Leija, he found himself on queer street, thanks to solid combinations and a straight right hand from Leija. Camacho would try to establish himself in the next few rounds but it was obvious he does not have the heart of a champion.

The two combatants clash heads in the fifth round opening a cut above the right eye of Camacho. Camacho finishes the round retreating and avoiding any confrontation ala Oscar De La Hoya's final rounds against Felix Trinidad.

At the sound of the bell ending the fifth round, Camacho walks to his corner and complains about not being able to see. The Doctor looks at the cut and OK's the fight to continue. But Camacho would have no part of it. The bell rings commencing the sixth round but Camacho ignores the referee's command to start fighting.

A good three to five minutes would pass as officials try to sort out the confusion. Plenty of time for Camacho's camp to peek at the scorecards. Now, America Presents' big cheese, Dan Goossen, gets into the picture and the fight does not resume, but instead goes to the scorecards. As luck would have it, all judges had Camacho winning the fight.

The New York State Athletic Commission is a disgrace to the sport of boxing. Leija should have been awarded a victory by TKO. The Judges were the ones that elected to be blind as their scorecards indicated favoritism to America Presents and Lou DiBella.

The first round ended with Camacho hanging on by the skin of his teeth, close to being knock out. Yet two of the three judges still gave the round to Camacho. From the second round on, Leija had success in landing the more dominant punches and his straight right hand leads were flawless.

The fifth - and as it turns out, the final round - was most interesting as both fighters miss their punches and clash heads, opening the cut on Camacho. Action continues with Leija landing solid shots. Leija staggers Camacho with a clean left hook. Camacho avoids the canvas, but both gloves brace the floor. The referee moves in not allowing Leija the benefit of landing the finishing blows. But the ref never stops the action nor wipes the gloves clean.

Could you imagine had this been a Don King promotion? The man would have been ridiculed by writers and boxing officials across the country. The devil, the snake, the no good SOB is what we would be reading right now.  But then again, King is a black man.
