THATS WHY THEY CALL HIM ‘MONEY’ MAYWEATHER

(IB – December 8 2007) – Floyd ‘Pretty Boy’ Mayweather (aka ‘Money’ Mayweather)
improved his unblemished record to (39-0, 25 KOs) by handing Ricky “The Hitman”
Hatton his first defeat (43-1, 31 KOs) by TKOing Hatton at 1:35 of the 10th
round!
This bout turned out to be a fight fans delight and the crowd was treated with
two things; 1) an action packed fight with Hatton pressing the fight, and 2) a
supreme master, in Mayweather, setting traps and quickly striking with pinpoint
precision.
While Hatton should be commended for putting up such a ‘bring it to you” style
into this fight with a ton a fan support cheering him on, Mayweather definitely
should be commended by showing how great champions make the necessary
adjustments. Mayweather continously dominated the fight by landing the cleaner
punches. Straight right-hand leads, counter punching, etc. Mayweather cut Hatton
over the right eye with a straight hand right in the 3rd round.
In round six, Hatton was deducted a point for hitting Mayweather behind the
head. From this point forward, Mayweather took control of the fight and took
Hatton to school by superb counter punching and straight overhand rights to the
face. About mid-way through the tenth round, while Hatton was charging in on
Mayweather, Floyd through a vicious left hook to the jaw of Hatton and the punch
sent Hatton’s face head on into the ring corner pad and then to the canvas.
Hatton was able to make it back to his feet, but Mayweather was all over him
with a combination that sent Hatton to the canvas again. As I had previously
predicted, this fight would come to a point where the corner would have to throw
in the towel. At the same time they did so, referee Joe Cortez was waving off
the fight at 1:35 of the tenth round.
After the fight, even Hatton stated, “I felt the difference” when speaking in
regards to Floyd’s power. With a superb performance such as this, if Mayweather
decides to keep fighting, he will definitely keep making more MONEY. I would
love to see him fight Cotto next and showcase how he can even solve Cotto’s
power at this weight class.
In the end, it’s hard to discount how talented ‘Pretty Boy’ Mayweather is and
rather you like him or hate him, his talent in the ring, deserves the utmost of
respect and will have him counting more ‘Money’.
He truly believes he can’t be beat, his actions illustrate the same, and given
that, let’s call it like it is, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the best Pound-for-Pound
fighter in the business today and tonight’s performance, further demonstrated
that to everyone watching…
