Atlantic City, NJ (IB – September 29, 2007) – The fans that assembled in
Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, as well as the fans that tuned into HBO, were
treated to one a greatest Middleweight Championship fights in Boxing history!
Kelly “The Ghost” Pavlik recovered from a devastating knock down by Jermain
Taylor in the 2nd round and came back strong and KO’ed Taylor at 2:14 of the 7th
round with a powerful overhand right followed up with left hooks to the jaw.
What an amazing fight! Prior to this extraordinary comeback, I had Taylor
winning every round except for the 3rd round and Taylor appeared as though he
was well on his way to a landside victory. However, Pavlik had different plans
and he got up off the canvas and gave true meaning to a quote, my late Uncle,
Carl Brashear said; “It’s not a sin to get knocked down, it’s a sin to stay
down.”
Given this, we now have a NEW Undefeated Middleweight Champion of the world and
it’s Kelly “The Ghost” Pavlik (32-0, 29 Kos) and he accomplished it in grand
style by handing Jermain “Bad Intentions” Taylor (27-1-1, 17 KOs) his 1st loss
as a professional.
Pavlik stated that he wanted to put Youngstown, Ohio on the map and he
definitely did just that!
It’s championship fights like this that make Boxing such as great sport. I have
much respect for Pavlik for coming back and beating the best of Jermain Taylor
that I have ever seen. So this was definitely no fluke, this was a great display
of overcoming obstacles to persevere to achieve one’s goals.
Congratulations Kelly Pavlik and your future has just become very bright!!!!!
