ATLANTA, GA (IB - December 7, 2002) – In case you haven’t heard of him yet, you
may want to ask somebody about Cedric Boswell. The folks in his hometown of
Atlanta got to see him perform live on Friday night 12/06/02 in a special
eight-round Main Event at Earthlink Live in Atlanta and promoted by David Oblas
of Undisputed Productions.com. The fans were treated with a great deal of
excitement.
Cedric Boswell improved his unblemished record to 20-0, 15KOs with a devastating
one-punch right uppercut at 2:59 of the 3rd round over Willie Perryman (6-4,
2KOs). The punch he landed on Perryman sent him to the canvas in slow motion and
brought the full capacity crowd to its feet in amazement! This was a TRUE KO! Perry
fell like a Timber in the Forest! There was no need for the referee to count!
Cedric has now put the Managerial issues that plagued his career and created an
approximate 2 ½ y
ear lay off behind him and he is on the move with Goosen Tutor
Promotions. Since his return to the ring in August of 2002, he is now 4-0 and is
rapidly moving up the rankings chart.
I sat down with Cedric after the bout and here is what he had to say:
Q: Cedric, since this was your 1st time fighting in your hometown, how did it
feel? Was there extra pressure?
A: “Its very hard to fight at home because they are expecting so much out of
you. Everybody calling you, everyone wants tickets, and everyone wants to see
you do well.”
Q: What is your assessment of your opponent tonight, was he a little tougher
than you expected?
A: “It was just that my timing was off. I didn’t have much sparring because he
was throwing a lot of looping punches and I should have cleaned him up straight
down the middle. I just did what I had to do to get him out of the there and go
for the next fight.”
Q: That was a marvelous uppercut you threw at the end of the 3rd round. Is that
something you have been working on to add to your arsenal of punches?
A: “We just added that uppercut since the last fight. After every fight, I go
back to the gym and we work on different things to better my performance.”
Q: Has the next opponent been identified yet?
A: “Not yet. I am planning to fight on the under card of Vernon Forrest’s
January 25th bout in Las Vegas, and we are trying to get a fight with Lou
Saverese in Atlanta on February 28th on ESPN2.”
Q: You’re currently ranked #46 in the World. How does it feel seeing your name
in the rankings?
A: “Great! Just four months ago I wasn't even ranked. I have had 4 fights in 4
months. We are moving. I am trying to get back where I left off.”
Q: Why such of an aggressive pace in having a fight every month?
A: I want to get that World title. I want to get there as soon as possible. We
will fight anybody. As long as I am in good shape and I’m getting good sparring,
we will fight anybody.”
Q: In closing, is there anything you would like to share with the Boxing
Community that may not know Cedric Boswell?
A: “I just want to tell them to look out because here I come.”
Well boxing fans, you heard it. Cedric is a Heavyweight that is on the move in a
quest to become the next World Heavyweight Champion from the State of Georgia.
Of course, Atlanta is also the home of Legendary Evander “The Real Deal”
Holyfield.
