ATLANTA, GA (IB – March 26, 2005) – Atlanta local fighter Paul
Degaldo 13-5-1, (2 KOs) was successful in the main event at Earthlink Live in
Atlanta, Georgia on Friday night. This event was the debut promotion under
Austin Wingo’s Sports Promotion firm.
Delgado took on a rugged veteran that had more heart than skills when he faced
Walter Gilliam (5-12-1, 1 KOs) in a 6 round welterweight fight. Even though
Gilliam weighed in at 156lbs vs Delgado’s 143lbs, it was Delgado that possessed
the superior boxing skills and even appeared to be the harder puncher. There
were no knockdowns in this fight and Delgado won a unanimous decision by scores
of 60-54, 60-54, 59-55.
As a result of this win, Delgado camp is now in negotiations with Insideboxing
to appear on the upcoming television fight to be aired live on Altitude Sports
and Entertainment in the 1st of a series of television fights, with the 1st one
scheduled for Sunday, April 24, 2005 at the Ikon Center, Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Altitude Sports broadcasts in 10 states covering the entire Rocky Mountain
region of the United States.
Headlining the April 24 card will be the WBC World Youth, WBC Mundo Hispano and
Canadian-American-Mexican Super Lightweight champion Donald Camarena, Denver,
Colorado. Camarena takes on Former NABA Champion James Crayton of Las Vegas,
Nevada.
If the negotiations are successfully completed, Degaldo will be taking on
unbeaten Adrian Mora, (12-0, 7 KOs) from Denver Colorado as part of the co-main
event.
