Ron - Shane you have fought De La Hoya and defeated him and  you have seen Vargas fight in the past.  Share your insight with us on how this fight may unfold?

Shane - "The reason why I believe De La Hoya can outpoint Vargas is because Oscar is a great technician. He has a sharp left hook and a great left jab to keep Vargas at bay.

Although Vargas is a great fighter and counter puncher as well.  He throws a nice one-two combination.  I just see De La Hoya out-boxing him.  If Oscar gets into any trouble, he can always just move around.  In this fight, Vargas is suppose to be the stronger guy. The guy that presses the action and we know that De La Hoya has been working with Floyd Mayweather Sr. and is working on his boxing.

But you never know with Vargas.  If you look at the fight with Trinidad where Vargas got dropped early but came back to steal the middle rounds. Trinidad came back and got him later on but it just shows how much heart Vargas has."

Ron - When De La Hoya built up an early lead on Trinidad, the crowd turned on him for trying to coast the final rounds to preserve victory.  However in his fight with you, he decided not to try this approach and it cost him the title because you were able to take it to him and he came up short.

Shane - "In our fight, De La Hoya was forced to fight me because the fans were getting tired of him boxing and moving around."

Ron - Shane in speaking with Bob Arum, I asked him about Vernon Forrest getting an opportunity to fight Oscar next if he wins?  Bob indicated that even though Vernon defeated you twice, you're still a bigger draw and he spoke very highly of you.

Shane - "Bob Arum knows that I'm a warrior and that's what people love to see.  I told people that with my two fights with Vernon we had a lot of holding and clinching.  It was two of the worst fights of my career.  Not just because I lost, but just because of the style of the fights.  People want to see two guys go out there and mix it up. That's what me and De La Hoya would do or what me and Vargas would do.
