In the first bout of the evening:
Alfred Cole defeated David Izon by Unanimous Decision in 8
Second fight paired Lamon Brewster against Joe Lenard. Brewster wins by TKO in the 3rd round.
Sherman Williams defeats Gabriel Brown by unanimous decision in 10 in fight number 3
In the 4th contest we witnessed Alex Terra upset Santiago Samaniego.
Alex Terra Garcia recorded his 20th KO in his 21st fight with a crushing overhand right to the jaw of Santiago Samaniego and captured the WBA Super Welterweight title.
Garcia had Samaneigo down late in the second and he was saved by the bell.
Then, at 1:46 of the 3rd round, the powerful right by Garcia ended the night for Samaneigo.
Garcia was a +400 underdog and pulled off the upset.
Ezra Sellers wins by TKO, 2nd round over Jason Robinson
Jean-Marc Mormeck retains his WBA
Cruiserweight title against Alexander
Gurov of the Ukraine. 32 Seconds of eighth rd TKO
Vonda Ward, the 6'6"" IBA Heavyweight Champion won a majority decision over Marta "The Shadow Salazar. A very competitive bout where both ladies were exchanging solid shots to the face.
The crowd really appreciated this bout.
Ronald "Winky" Wright vs. Juan Carlos "JC" Candelo
A very competitive fight. After 4 rounds of boxing, InsideBoxing has the fight even giving Wright rounds 1 and 3 with rounds 2 and 4 going to Candelo...
After 12 rounds of fighting Wright retains his title with a unanimous decision over a game and tough Candelo.

Well the judges saw this fight much differently than I did. Two judges scored
117-111 and one scored it 118-110. My scoring was 115-113.
J.C seemed to run out of steam heading down the stretch of the Championship
rounds.
I thought "Winky" did enough to pull out a close decision based on his out, but definitely not by a margin as wide as the official scores reflect.
Nevertheless, Wright has the W and retains his IBF Jr. Middleweight title and more importantly, keeps his name securely planted in the quest for obtaining a unification bout with Oscar De La Hoya.
There were no knockdowns and neither fighter ever appeared to be in serious trouble.
Full report to follow in the main section of Ruiz vs. Jones Inside Coverage section.
Fres Oquendo dropped Maurice "Mo Betta" Harris in the 4th round with a vicious right hook.
Harris was able to get back up and continue the bout.
We are now in the 8th round and Oquendo appears to be gasping for air.
The last stretch of this fight should be interesting.

Fres Oquendo knocks out Maurice Harris at 2:12 of the 10th round with a crushing left hook and followed up by a right hook to the top of Harris' head while falling to the canvas.
Ruiz vs. Jones:
Roy Jones is getting the respect from Ruiz.
Roy is using blinding speed and has drawn blood from the nose of Ruiz in the 4th. Jones even rocked Ruiz.
So far its Roy's fight with speed and landing the more effective power shots.
Instead of running, Roy has elected to plant his feet and be first.
This is a great performance thus far by Roy through 5 rounds.

So far, the only rounds that perhaps you could make a case for Ruiz winning is perhaps round 1 and 8.
Roy Jones should be clearly ahead on points going into the 9th round.
But in heavyweight fights, anything can happen so it isn't over yet, but the fat lady is warming her vocals up.

In the 10th and 11th rounds Roy showed that he can take the punches from Ruiz .
Johnny hit Roy with a couple of good uppercuts and Roy was able to withstand them.
It appears Ruiz will need a 12th KO if he wants this victory.
