Champion Nate Campbell may have just delivered the KO punch of the night when he
starched Daniel Alicia in the 3rd. round to retain his title and improve to
22-0, now with 20 KOs.
Campbell throws a power overhand right, over the jab of Alicea, connecting to the jaw.
Referee did not bother to count, insisting Alicea stay down.

In round 3, Miguel began to control the fight with his left jab.

Cotto knocked Brown down in the 2nd and 8th rounds. Wins by unanimous decision, Brown never won a round.
Oscar De La Hoya vs. Fernando Vargas, 12 rounds - World super welterweight/Jr. middleweight championship bout

Fight goes back and forth with each fighter winning ever other round. Fight is dead even after 6 rounds of furious fighting. Vargas landing many power punches marking De La Hoya's face with a good lump on the left cheek.
In the championship rounds of 10 and 11 De La Hoya becomes dominant with his defensive and punch connections after withstanding the power punches in the early rounds.
De La Hoya uses his speed in the final rounds and hurts Vargas in the 10th with a power combination where a left hook landed and pretty much knocks Vargas out. The bell saves Vargas from defeat.
De La Hoya continues his barrage of selected power punches in the 11th and knocks Vargas out midway into the round.
Fight ends.
De La Hoya never went to Vargas' corner after the fight as so customary in big fights. After the fight De La Hoya dedicated the fight to all the Mexican people and his wife.
