Miami, FL (InsideBoxing.com, February 8, 2008) Tutu
Zabala’s All Star Boxing, Inc. along with Boxeo Telemundo presented their 1st
fight card of the year at Miccosukee Resort & Gaming. The main event featured a
12 round VACANT WBA FEDECENTRO
WELTERWEIGHT
CHAMPIONSHIP bout between Mexico’s veteran ring master Cosme “Chino” Rivera
(30-11, 22Ko’s) which was making his return to the ring after losing a unanimous
decision to Andre Berto (18-0) in July of last year, against Colombia’s national
champion Raul “El Tendero” Pinzon (15-1, 14 Ko’s) which was making his 1st
appearance in the states.
In the first 2 rounds it seemed as an even match as Rivera was feeling Pinzon out, and Pinzon was the aggressor. Towards the middle rounds things changed as Rivera was scoring with body shots and clear punches to Pinzon’s head, which had Pinzon out of breath and tired. It wasn’t until the 2:00 minute mark of the 8th round that Rivera nailed Pinzon with a strong right that Ko’d Pinzon.
Rivera now has a record of 5-1 at the Miccosukee Resort & Gaming with his only lost there being to Joel Julio (27-1). Rivera a can either fight technically or looking for a knockout making things exciting. Look for him to fight again at the Miccosukee later this year.
