INSIDE BOXING - 6/15/02 -Well boxing fans, here is my recap of my wonderful. experience covering the LEWIS/TYSON bout the weekend of June 8th in Memphis, TN.
THU - 6/6/02 - Upon my immediate arrival in the early am, it was apparent that the city of Memphis was pumped up with excitement! The streets were lined with LEWIS/TYSON banners, the store fronts had boxing paraphernalia on display, and the Radisson Hotel, where I stayed downtown, welcomed me with open arms and red carpet treatment.
My 1st order of business called for checking in at the Memphis Convention Center to obtain Temporary Credentials, and to have my picture taken. The process ran smoothly by just exiting the Radisson and walking two short blocks to catch the trolley that transported me directly to the MCC... More

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (INSIDE BOXING, 06/08/02) "Iron" Mike Tyson was KO'd by Lennox Lewis tonight. The outcome should not have been unexpected. Lewis enjoyed a 6 inches height as well as reach advantage. Lewis has been active over the last year while Tyson has been dormant. Lewis has been the epitome of class in a sport that is all too often classless. So why would the whole world heavily anticipate the Lewis vs. Tyson heavyweight title fight?..More
MEMPHIS,
Tenn. (INSIDE BOXING 6/8/02) - The answer is in, the Lennox Lewis that is a
dominating jabber, complimented by a good uppercut and straight right-hand
puncher is who showed up and defeated the "DRAMA MAGNET", Iron
Mike Tyson, in dramas tic fashion! This was a pure example of a GOOD
"BIG" MAN dominating a GOOD "SMALL" MAN. Lennox
controlled the fight from the 2nd round onward. All three judges gave the
1st round to Tyson, and all 3 of them gave all of the remaining rounds
leading up to the knockout to Lewis as well. A classic domination and a
great performance by Lennox Lewis. He has secured the respect from the
American boxing community - and he deserves it- Great Job Lennox Lewis. I,
personally did not think he would provide us with a performance this
magnificent!.. More

Fight, I want to take a few minutes and share some pre-fight thoughts with you
because I am really looking forward to this bout. The HYPE is ON!
I would like to share with you why I used the title above:
First, and foremost, I truly believe that Lennox possesses the necessary boxing skills to defeat Mike. However, I am just not convinced that he will do so. Below are my top 3 reasons why, in all likelihood, he WILL NOT:... More
INSIDE BOXING (June 4, 2002) - The
fight game has always been treated like an interloper at a fancy ball, a
nuisance with white socks, poor table manners and a forged party invitation.

country club.
Most of the fight crowd doesn’t attend
the ballet or the opera or expect too much in the way of amenities. They don’t
know Hamlet from ham and eggs, but they understand the old three-knockdown rule
and why you don’t always go to the scorecards. They like simple things, like
cold beer, clean knockouts and honest judges handing out fair decisions. Asking
for anything more would be stepping out of line... More
