OSCAR DE LA HOYA AND JOHN LONG, GOLDEN BOY PARTNERS, CONTRIBUTE $50,000 TO REBUILD EAST LOS ANGELES’ GARFIELD HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM

LOS ANGELES (July 22, 2007) … Oscar De La Hoya and John Long, partners in Golden Boy Partners, a real estate company focusing on underserved Southern California Latino neighborhoods, today donated $50,000 to the Fund to Rebuild Garfield Auditorium. The historic Garfield High School auditorium built in 1925, was consumed by fire on May 20th and completely destroyed. De La Hoya and Long presented the check to David L. Brewer III, Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Superintendent, and Omar Del Cueto, Principal, Garfield High School. Los Angeles City Councilman, Jose Huizar, also participated in the event today at the high school. More

Lopez vs Ruiz headline at the Morongo Casino!

May 11, 2006 - II Feathers Boxing returns to the Morongo Casino on May 19th in the city of  Cabazon, California after having sold out all their prior dates. "Battles in the WarZone" will be headlined by Super Bantamweight Samuel Lopez taking on Edel "Cuate" Ruiz. Lopez (17-3-0, 6 KO's), a Mexico City native is coming off an impressive win over Ruiz's twin brother, the also well regarded world title contender Heriberto Ruiz. This will be a crossroads fight for both men as Lopez who is currently ranked #12 by the WBA and #10 by the IBF takes another stern test on his way to a title shot. Ruiz (28-14-3, 15 KO's), has been in the ring with some of the best in the sport including world champions Joan Guzman, Pulie Ayala and Israel Vazquez. Ruiz lost to all three men by decision. He is currently coming off a knockout win but has to derail Lopez in order to keep any hope alive for a title shot. More

The former amateur boxing superstar Jose "The Punisher" Perez won his 7th straight victory as a pro. The bout was televised on ESPN2 "Friday Night Fights" From San Jose, CA

SAN JOSE, California (May 16, 2005) - The Punisher fought a tough and rugged opponent in Abraham Verdugo, prior to the fight he had several fighters ready to go and then they backed out, Verdugo was added just a few days before the fight

Also the fight was originally scheduled for 6 rounds but had to be changed to a 4 rounder for the live telecast.

With all these things going on behind the scenes Jose still had the composure of a ring veteran even though he is just 21! The battered and bruised Verdugo survived all four rounds, however I'm sure he will be feeling it in the morning! More

Jose "The Punisher" Perez Jr. is about to muscle his way into the professional ranks. Jose's latest victory at the Arco arena located in Sacramento, California was against a kid named Geraldo Gonzalez making his pro debut, Jose looked very sharp in this fight and was basically picking this guy apart from the very beginning of the fight said his father Jose senior. The fight mercifully ended after 3 full rounds, Gonzalez was knocked down several times and was unable to answer the fourth round however he showed lots of hart and courage, this was no pushover this kid wanted a win over Jose, he came to fight. With Jose's dad now serving as both his manager and trainer things are moving forward, at present time we are looking for a good quality promoter who sees the potential we all see in Jose. More
