Lopez vs Ruiz headline
at the Morongo Casino!
May 11, 2006 - II Feathers Boxing returns to the Morongo Casino on May 19th in
the city of Cabazon, California after having sold out all their prior
dates. "Battles in the WarZone" will be headlined by Super Bantamweight Samuel
Lopez taking on Edel "Cuate" Ruiz. Lopez (17-3-0, 6 KO's), a Mexico City native
is coming off an impressive win over Ruiz's twin brother, the also well regarded
world title contender Heriberto Ruiz. This will be a crossroads fight for both
men as Lopez who is currently ranked #12 by the WBA and #10 by the IBF takes
another stern test on his way to a title shot. Ruiz (28-14-3, 15 KO's), has been
in the ring with some of the best in the sport including world champions Joan
Guzman, Pulie Ayala and Israel Vazquez. Ruiz lost to all three men by decision.
He is currently coming off a knockout win but has to derail Lopez in order to
keep any hope alive for a title shot.
Fresh off his knockout win over former world Cruiserweight champion Orlin
Norris, will be Cruiserweight Olawale Afolabi (11-1-3, 4 KO's) taking on Daniel
Cota (11-1-1, 7 KO's). Marvin Carrera (5-0, 1KO) will be taking on Saul Ochoa
(4-1, 3 KO's) in a battle of up and coming featherweights. Middleweight Judiel
Zepeda (9-1, 8 KO's) will be taking on Charles Blake (8-5-1, 3 KO's).

Rounding out the evening will be Manuel Garcia (2-2) squaring off against Alex
Ariza (3-0, 3 KO's). Dimitrique Edwards (8-2, 5 KO's) will also be fighting on
