"MACHO" MIGUEL HERNANDEZ VS J.J. CORN HEADLINES 8 COUNT
PRODUCTIONS' CHICAGO'S CONTENDERS AT THE ARAGON BALLROOM ON FRIDAY, APRIL 8TH.
HUGE UNDERCARD HEADLINED BY "NEXT GREAT CHAMP" FINALIST DAVID PAREJA, FRANKIE
TAFOYA, JOSE ANDRES HERNANDEZ, DON "DA BOMB" GEORGE AND RITA FIGUEROA
March 19, 2005 - Dominic Pesoli's 8 Count Productions and Miller Lite are proud
to announce their next installment of "The Best in Chicago Boxing" series
as they return to the Aragon Ballroom on Friday, April 8th to present a terrific
night of professional boxing.
Chicago's Contenders will be headlined by the return to the ring of Chicago's
most popular fighter, "Macho" Miguel Hernandez, 14-2 (9KO's) as he takes on
rugged veteran Jonathan JJ Corn, 44-12-1 (23KO's) of Menominee, Wisconsin in a
ten round middleweight bout. Miguel returns to the ring following his
disappointing loss two months ago to Shay Mobley.
Said the always classy Hernandez, "Shay did well that night and he got the win.
I've moved past the initial disappointment and look forward to getting back in
the ring. JJ's a real tough guy and it should make for a very exciting fight for
the fans. I'm eager to get back to my winning form and putting on a terrific
performance for the huge 8 Count crowd." Miguel also wanted to thank his legions
of fans for their continued support.
Also featured on the card is light heavyweight David Pareja, 3-1, of Rockford,
IL in a six round bout. Pareja makes his 8 Count Productions debut after
reaching the finals on FOX Television's The Next Great Champ last fall.
Making his long awaited return to the 8 Count Productions ring is hard swinging
local super featherweight Jose Andres Hernandez, 16-2 (12KO's) of Round Lake, IL
who will be featured in a scheduled six rounder.
Fan favorite Frankie Tafoya, 3-0 (2KO's) moves up to the six rounders as he
continues his rise through the featherweight prospect ranks. Tafoya was last
seen at the Aragon Ballroom in January in a crushing third round knockout of
Clarence Bunkholt which had the packed house on their feet roaring with
approval.
In a four round middleweight bout, Don "Da Bomb" George, 3-0-1 (3KO's) heads
back in action following his brutal first round knockout of Ed "The Spoiler"
Humes at the 8 Count Productions card last month. The twenty year old George is
fast becoming one of Chicago's most popular fighters.
Rounding out the card is a special attraction female bout featuring super
lightweight Chicagoan Rita Figueroa, 2-0 (1KO) in a four round bout. Rita won a
very hard fought four round split decision over Sarina Hayden in January at the
Aragon Ballroom, which earned a standing ovation at the end of the bout from the
huge crowd.
Said Dominic Pesoli, President of 8 Count Productions', "We will continue to
bring "The Best in Chicago Boxing" to our growing loyal audience. Our last show
last Friday night featured a great main event between Luciano Perez and Robert
Jones, it was a shame that Germaine Sanders became ill, but those two guys put
on a real warrior clinic. The newer guys like Francisco Rodriguez and Ottu
Holifield both looked very sharp in their wins."
Continued Pesoli, "The first time 8 Count guys like Gabriel Navarro and Emmanuel
Hernandez both looked good and John William looked very solid in his win."
