Galvan Headlines Boxing Card at Lake
Station May 10
LAKE STATION, IN-- Rising junior lightweight Ruben Galvan of Hammond will return
to action May 10 at the VFW hall in here. He will battle Clifford Woods of
Columbia, Missouri over eight scheduled rounds. Galvan will be giving up some
weight to Woods as the bout will at 137 pounds. Galvan is a natural 130 pounder.
"Hey, it can be dangerous, but to get fights, sometime you have to be flexible,"
joked Galvan.
The card will also feature Guy Solis who will be dropping down in weight from
190 to 175 to box in the light-heavyweight division. Solis fought a draw with
undefeated Chicago cruiserweight Eddie Gutierrez in his last bout, and weighed
in at just 182 for the 195 pound fight.
"I was training hard and didn't realize the weight was coming off," said Solis.
"I'd be nuts to keep fighting at cruiserweight."
Spectacular, power punching, lightweight Angel Hernandez of Gary and
middleweight John Paul Kolbucar of Chicago will box in separate four round
bouts.
Hernandez was very impressive in stopping former Iowa Golden Gloves champion
Cardell James in three rounds in Chicago last week.
Tickets are on sale at all northern Indiana TicketMaster locations.
