Andre Berto Records Devastating First Round Win

NEW YORK, N.Y. (January 31, 2005) - Only one week after his second professional victory, 2004 Olympian Andre Berto (Winter Haven, Fla.) devastated Edgar Galvan (Durango, Mexico) with a first round TKO in front of a raucous crowd in the Manhattan Center Grand Ballroom.

After quickly feeling out his shorter opponent, Berto went to work, countering Galvan's wide, looping shots with crisp, quick and powerful combinations. The 21-year-old relentlessly stalked Galvan, dropping him with an early combination before trapping him on the ropes. One of Berto's many devastating punches sent Galvan's mouthpiece sailing out of the ring before the fight was mercifully stopped by the referee less than two minutes into the bout.

The appearance was Berto's first of many future performances on DiBella Entertainment's Broadway Boxing series and he continued to build his growing fan base with a dominating and powerful performance in front of a packed house.

After competing twice in a one-week period, Berto will enjoy the chance to return to Florida and leave the New England blizzard he endured during his trip to the Northeast.

The 21-year-old Florida native competed in the 2004 Olympics as the one-man Haitian boxing team. He is an accomplished amateur, holding a World Championships bronze medal and four national titles.
