September 8, 2006 - Gold was found on the undercard of the Ishe Smith bout in
Leon Green.
Green a 2006 N.Y. Metro and Golden Glove Champion and ranked #3 in the nation by USA Boxing signed with Golden Boy’s “Sugar” Shane Mosely inc. Leon made his pro debut on Friday August 25th at the desert Diamond Casino in Tucson, Arizona as a Jr. welterweight. Green an East Coast phenomenon took on tough Rigoberto Rangel also making his pro debut in Rangel’s hometown.25 year old Rangel a Mexican native moved to Tucson about two years ago after establishing a 30-5 amateur record to continue his boxing career.
Green demonstrated what an extended amateur career and being ranked as an amateur can bring to the ring as a professional. Green with his slick moves and hand speed had the tough Mexican rocked in every round. Green worked with a snapping jab and consistently banged power shots to Rangel’s body and head. All the judges scored the bout 40-36 Green. Green’s next bout is Sept. 16th on the Barrera / Juarez undercard.
