NEW YORK, N.Y. (February 26, 2005) – 2004 Haitian Olympian Andre Berto (Winter Haven, Fla.) battled both illness and an older, more experienced opponent in his fourth professional fight Thursday, February 24 on Broadway Boxing at the Manhattan Center in New York City. Berto’s original opponent, Vance Garvey, was replaced the day before the fight by 42-year-old Daniel Neal (Columbus, Ohio).
Berto dominated the fight from start to finish, easily winning all four rounds to receive a 40-36 victory on all of the judges scorecards. The much more aggressive and skilled Berto once again put on a show, throwing vicious body shots before a star-studded crowd that included Lennox Lewis, Zab Judah, Monte Barrett and Lou Duva.
Berto got the opportunity to fight with friends and fellow former amateur champions Curtis Stevens and Lorenzo Reynolds, who both recorded first round knockouts. Close friend and 2004 Olympic Bronze Medalist Andre Dirrell was also on hand.
Berto now moves out to a 4-0 record and looks forward to his next fight, which could come as early as March.
The 21-year-old Florida native competed in the 2004 Olympics as the one-man Haitian boxing team. He is an accomplished amateur, holding a World Championships bronze medal and four national titles. [End]

New York, November 9-Three-time New York Golden Glove 135-pound champion Jorge Teron turns pro today when he signed an exclusive promotional agreement with Cedric Kushner Promotions, and a management contract with Steven Heid and Jeffrey Cohen of Spike Management, LLC.
Teron captured the Daily News Golden Gloves championships in 2002, 2003 and 2004.
The 18-year-old native New Yorker resides with his family in the Bronx, where he is a student at Bronx Community College.
