Douglas Vies For WBC Int'l. Title

November 3, 2004 - Billy "Dynamite" Douglas will be standing at the crossroads of Stardom Lane and Palookaville Trail December 11, at the Atlantic Oceana, Brooklyn, USA.

Much as his father stood at the very same crossroads against the likes of Bennie Briscoe, Eugene "Cyclone" Hart, Marvin Johnson, and Saad Muhammad, Billy Douglas Jr., never one to back away from any man, woman, or beast will face the undefeated Russian, Timor Ibragimov for the coveted WBC Fecarbox Heavyweight Championship.

Douglas is on the rebound after a very disappointing TKO loss suffered during the last minute of a fight in which he was ahead on all scorecards. Douglas has three losses against his ten wins and eight knockouts. His brother, former World Heavyweight Champion, James Buster Douglas says this about Billy's losses,
"My brother doesn't duck anyone. He fights anyone, anyplace, anytime. He doesn't have to feed his ego by fighting easy wins. Whoever the opponent is, that's who we fight. My dad fought everyone and never backed away. I fought Holyfield right after knocking out Tyson. My brother's doing the same thing. I told our promoter, Andrew Schwartz not to get Billy any easy fights. If he wins or loses, that's what he has earned."

When contacted about fighting Ibragimov, Douglas' promoter Andrew Schwartz had this to say, " If I were Ibragimov's people, I sure wouldn't be bragging about his undefeated record. It's true out fighter has lost three fights, but I'm sure if Ibragimov had fought the same tough fighters Billy has, he might barely be .500. I think Billy will fare very well against Timor.

Some good news for New York boxing fans, Billy Douglas will be in the best condition of his career, much like his late father when he steps in the ring to fight Timor Ibragimov, December 11.
