Douglas to fight for West Virginia state title

(July 16, 2004) - Billy Douglas younger brother of former heavyweight champ Buster Douglas will fight for his first title this Friday 6/18/04 in Chester West Virginia. The 10-1-8 Douglas steps into the ring with the very able 11-0-7 Abe Okine the African assassin from Africa. When asked Douglas said "this is a very big fight, this is the kind of fight i need if i want to move up in the game. we have had a great camp and I am ready actually I can't wait." There are 5 title fights on the card and Douglas is very proud to once again be representing his family name in the ring. [End]

SPADAFORA WINS IBF/IBC UNIFICATION WITH UNANIMOUS DECISION OVER HOLBAEK 

CHESTER, WV (November 10, 2002) - Once again it was superior speed and elusiveness that carried the defending IBF champion, Paul Spadafora, to victory. Spadafora, "The Pittsburgh Kid", was sharp and entertained the largely home crowd at The Harv in Chester, West Virginia on route to his 7th consecutive title defense.

The judges ruled unanimously in favor of the champion and he was credited with winning at least 9 of 12 rounds on all 3 scorecards. Although, Holbaek didn't see it as being that lopsided. More

INSIDE BOXING (August 8, 2002) - Chester W. Va.'s Convention Center and promoter Pat Nelson hosted a Pro-Am card featuring exciting local fighters and up and coming pros. Many of the bouts were action packed and fast paced. TKO's, standing eights and dominating performances had the crowd on its feet. It was a great night of showcasing new talent.

The main event featured 132 pd. National Champion Verquan Kimbrough from Aliquippa, PA against game opponent, and Pa. State Champion, Donnie Hanon from Scottsdale, PA. More

 

Williamson surprises Sanders

For a second night in a row, Michael Acri, Jerry Thomas and ESPN's Friday Night Fights put together a competitive fight card at the Mountaineer Race Track in Chester, WV. Headlining the card were Olympic hopefuls and fresh new faces. It was definitely a night to highlight their talent. In the main event, heavyweight Corey "T-Rex" Sanders 23-6 with 15 KO's from Mitchellville, MD faced Davarryl "Touch of Sleep" Williamson in a ten round slugfest. This fight seemed to be a crossroads fight for Saunders as he tried to get back into the title picture.

 

 

ALLEN defeats MENDOZA in IBF TITLE ELIMINATION

CHESTER, WV (Inside Boxing) - On Thursday July 25th Michael Acri, Jerry Thomas and Mountaineer Race Track and Gaming Resort presented ESPN's Thursday night Fights. Mountaineer is quickly becoming a stable for world class boxing from around the world. In the main event, Robert Allen 32-4 with 24 KO's from New Orleans, LA defeated Tito Mendoza 27-3 with 20 KO's from Veraguas, Panama in a twelve round IBF middleweight elimination bout.
