Seattle, Washington (May 23, 2005) - Light-Middleweight prospect Walter Wright (5-1, 3 ko's) will face undefeated Darnell Boone (4-0-1, 2 ko's) on ESPN 2's Tuesday Night Fights this week from the Northern Quest Casino near Spokane. Wright who normally fights at light-middleweight will come up to middleweight for this fight. "You have to take opportunities when they come up and to fight on National TV is a great opportunity for me", Wright said. Boone remained undefeated when he drew with Walid Smichet (8-1) in February. Wrights only loss came in his debut when he was KO'd by Canadian Matt O'Brien now 11-0. Wright was winning 20-17 on the scorecards after the second round when he got caught. GOMEZ-SAUNDERS HEADLINE BATTLE XXXV

Tacoma (February 4, 2005) – Northwest cruiserweight giant slayer, Gary Gomez (13-4-0, 5KOs) will face Rayco Saunders (14-3-1, 6KOs) in the 35th installment of the Battle at the Boat boxing series on a special Friday night edition, February 25th , at the Emerald Queen Casino. The first action-packed bout is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m.

Gomez dismantled two undefeated Northwest cruiserweights when he KO’d Michael Sams (then 12-0) in March of 2004. In December of the same year, he won a unanimous decision over Chad Van Sickle (who was down twice – once in the first round, and then again in the third). This time, he will be taking on Philadelphia’s Rayco Saunders - and only one man will come out on top. More

HALQUIST SIGNS TORRES

(Tacoma, WA) January 11, 2005 - Brian Halquist Productions signed undefeated welterweight prospect David Torres following his seventh consecutive victory Saturday night at the Emerald Queen Casino’s Battle at the Boat Boxing series.

“It was a natural thing to sign David”, said promoter Brian Halquist. “David has fought his last six fights here at the Emerald Queen, he beat two undefeated fighters (Derrick Moon, 3-0-1, and David Hernandez, 3-0-1) back to back. He’s the crowd favorite at the casino and is a local fighter. We plan on fighting David eight more times this year”, Halquist said.

“We have been talking with Brian for a year now”, said Torres’ manager, Lalo Martinez. “We’re relieved to have this behind us and look forward to a great relationship with Halquist Productions and advancing David’s career”.

Torres will fight on the Battle at the Boat boxing card on Friday, February 25, against an opponent to be named.

“We hope to have David fighting a main event by summer”, Halquist said.

LINTON WINS BOAT BATTLE

January 10, 2005 - Emmett Linton beat a very tough and game Marcos Primera on Saturday night in the ten round main event at the Emerald Queen Casino’s Battle at the Boat boxing series in Tacoma, Washington. Linton pounded out a unanimous decision and improved his record to 33-3-2 while Primera fell to 17-9-2. David Torres continued his undefeated streak with a first round KO of Michael Haley. Torres only threw one punch, a right hook, and made short work of the fight. “It was a pretty hard punch I caught him with”, Torres said. “He was leaning in and I just connected”. In the other undercard fights, Kevin Johnson (7-0-0) defeated Will Cook (7-2-0) in a very one-sided eight round punch fest. Darby Smart advanced his record to 6-0 against Sabino Rosario who fell to 3-5-0. Eric “Mighty Mouse” Aiken defeated Terrence Roy in a six round fight. Aiken’s record is now 12-2-0. And, in a double pro-debut, tough puncher Tony Redman tried to box Leslie Watson while Leslie tried to steer clear of Redman. Watson seemed to flail more than box and was eventually disqualified for spitting his mouth piece out again and again and again. [End]

TACOMA, WA (May 26, 2004) - A new boxing series hits the Pacific Northwest in June. “Rumble at the Reef I” kicks off at the Silver Reef Casino in Ferndale, Washington Saturday, June 12, 2004 at 8:00 PM. The series is being promoted by Brian Halquist Productions who also promotes “The Battle at the Boat” boxing series at the Emerald Queen Casino.

“Rumble at the Reef I” will feature an eight round main event with Canadian light heavyweight Mark Woolnough (14-3-2) from Qualicum Beach B.C. facing Kevin Butts (8-3-1) from Cleveland, Ohio.

The undercard will feature Canadians Mehdi Pouroskoui and Troy Roberts. The full undercard will be announced next week.

Kenny Ellis moves to 3rd in World Boxing Rankings

 

(July 16, 2003) - The “Emerald City Assassin” Kenny Ellis (30-4-2 19KO’s) moves a step closer to a world title fight. In the July 2003 WBO rankings Ellis made his way into the top three. In June he was ranked 4th, but his 4th round KO of Antoine Robinson (22-6) on May 31st at the Emerald Queen Casino was the push he’d been waiting for that advanced him into 3rd. More
