Gibbs Returns April 1st on ESPN2

Uncasville,CT (February 27, 2005) - Sir William "The Gladiator" Gibbs will be returning to the ring for the first time since his ESPN2 fight of the year candidate with Daniel Edouard. In August, Gibbs and Edouard engaged in a brutal back and forth slugfest that ended in a fourth round TKO for Edouard.

“Bad” Chad Dawson headlines April 1 show in New Haven

PROVIDENCE (February 22, 2005) – Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports, Inc. has announced its promotion of “Homecoming,” headlined by WBC Youth middleweight “Bad” Chad Dawson, fighting in his hometown for the first time Friday night, April 1 at a site to be announced in New Haven, Connecticut.

Dawson (16-0, 11 KOs, 1 NC), rated No. 15 by the World Boxing Council, defends his title against upset-minded Jose Spearman (22-8-3, 9 KOs), of Indianapolis, in the 12-round main event. “Bad” Chad is coming off a near perfect performance December 10, in which, he stopped former world champion Carl Daniels in seven rounds.

Spearman upset (14-1) Rasheen Brown (WDEC8) last August and he has surprised (20-7-1) Bruce Rumbolz (WKO4) and (11-1-1) Sam Calderson (WDEC6). Jose also has been in against two former world champions, Mads Larsen and Brian Magee. More

2004 Olympian Andre Berto Scores Second Professional Victory in Connecticut
UNCASVILLE, CT (January 22, 2005) - 2004 Olympian Andre Berto (Winter Haven, Fla.) added a second professional win to his resume on Friday, January 21, with a unanimous four round decision over fellow Floridian Joseph Benjamin at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Ct.
For the second straight bout, Berto brought the crowd to their feet with a strong display of speed and power in the first round, dropping Benjamin with a vicious right hand. The action recommenced in the second round but his unwilling opponent moved to stay away from the aggressive Berto. Gibbs Battles Edouard for Vacant USBA Middleweight Title

Uncasville,CT- The Mohegan Sun casino will be the host to what should be an ESPN2 fight of the year candidate. Sir William "The Gladiator" Gibbs 17-0, 14 ko's, is set to take on "The Hatian Sensation," Daniel Edouard 15-0-2 8 ko's, for the vacant USBA Middleweight title.

Gibbs, the cousin of undisputed middleweight champion Bernard Hopkins, is rated #21 by the WBC while Edouard is ranked #23. Edouard knows that a top 10 IBF rating is at stake.
