BROCK – READY TO GET HIS JUMP ON LIFE By Ron Brashear
New York, NY (IB – August 05, 2006) – From the Madison Square Garden theatre in New York, and televised on HBO, Vernon “The Viper” Forrest improved his record to (38-2, 28 KOs) by winning a unanimous decision over Ike “Bazooka” Quartey (37-3-1, 31 KOs).
This fight turned out to be very competitive throughout the ten rounds and it was a very tough fight to score. There were no knockdowns in the fight and neither fighter appeared to be badly hurt at any point in the fight. Vernon was deducted one point for an accidental low blow in the ninth round by referee Arthur Mercante Jr. after a couple of warnings for punching low in the earlier rounds. More
Memphis, TN (IB – June 17, 2006) – In a showdown between the best middleweights in the world, fighting for supremacy of the division, Jermain “Bad Intentions” Taylor (25-0-1, 17KOs) put his WBC, WBA, and WBO middleweight titles on the line against Ronald “Winky” Wright (50-3-1, 25 KOs).
From the sound of the opening bell, it was very apparent that this fight was going to be a very evenly matched contest. Both fighters were putting in some good work and landing their fair share of punches as they appeared to be trading rounds throughout the fight.
The outcome of each round was becoming very consistent. Whenever Wright was able to back Taylor into the ropes, Winky was able to effectively land his punches to the body and head of Taylor. While Taylor never appeared hurt in the fight, there was an accidental head butt that caused his left eye to swell practically shut in the 9th round. More
ATLANTA, GA (IB – April 28, 2006) – The “Boz” is back, and there ain’t no fooling around… This was exactly the approach that Heavyweight Cedric “The Boz” Boswell (21-1, 17 KOs) took into his return to the ring on Friday night fights live from Atlanta Live via a Strong Arm Promotions www.strongarmpromotions.com . The hometown Atlanta fans were treated with a 2nd round knock out win over Wallace McDaniel (7-12, 3 KOs), would stood 6’ 8” and was totally outclassed and not even in the same league as Boswell. INSIDE BOXING (9/24/2005) – Wow! What a night of championship boxing! On the boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and televised on HBO’s boxing after dark, fans were treated to a very entertaining WBO & IBF heavyweight elimination bout for the #1 ranking between Samuel "the Nigerian Nightmare" Peter (24-0, 21 KOs) and former WBO heavyweight champion, in Wladimir Klitschko (44-3, 40KOs). INSIDE BOXING (9/23/2005) – It’s hard to imagine that I would be writing a story whereas Roy Jones Jr. (49-3, 38 KOs) would be fighting to preserve his legacy. That is exactly what he will be doing when he steps into the ring in a quest to reclaim his fame against Antonio “ Magic Man” Tarver (23-3, 18 KOs) on October 1st in Tarver’s hometown of Tampa, Florida and televised on HBO Pay-Per-View.
Let’s face it, Roy Jones Jr. was the longest reigning Pound-For-Pound fighter in the business since this title has been placed on fighters. Then, on a hot summer night in Las Vegas back in May of 2004, Jones’ legacy was drastically tarnished by one thunderous left hook by Tarver in the 2nd round that put the Great RJJ on his back and KOed! This event sent shock waves throughout the capacity crowd at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, as well as throughout the boxing community. Then to make matters worse, four months later, RJJ makes a comeback and gets knocked out cold in the 9th round against Glen Johnson in Memphis, Tennessee. More
DENVER, CO {Inside Boxing – August 12, 2005) – The Denver fans came out to the
Pepsi Center to see what the buzz was all about with local
boxing prospect
Donald Camarena. With the hometown crowd, the national spotlight on ESPN’s
Friday Night fights, and headlining the main event, Camarena (16-1, 9 KOs) put
on a superb performance and retained his WBC Continental America’s Super
Lightweight championship with a dominating unanimous decision victory over the
formidable and rugged challenge from Jorge Padilla (6-2,1 KOs). Judge Jerry Roth
scored the fight 96-94, Judge Steve Waldman and Judge Ed Kugler scored the bout
98-92, all three in favor of Donald Camarena.

(IB – May 13, 2005) – It just goes to show that when you seek out greatness, take on greatness, while all along believing you possess greatness as well, you can reign as a superstar! Ronald “Winky” Wright improved his record to (49-3, 25 KOs) and literally dominated Felix “Tito” Trinidad (42-2, 35 KOs) in practically a 12-round shutout in their WBC Middleweight title eliminator bout! The judges scored the bout 120-107, 119-108, 119-108 all for “Winky” Wright. Felix Trinidad was penalized a point for low blows in the 9th round. Can you imagine that? I don’t even believe the "Winky" Wright optimists believed it would turn out to be this one-sided. From the sound of the opening bell, “Winky” Wright controlled this fight with a stiff right jab. A jab with so much precision, it made the “Great” Felix Trinidad look so amateurish, that it just silenced the pro Trinidad capacity crowd! This fight turned out to be total mismatch. More
(IB – April 30, 2005) – If someone would have made this statement anytime during the 90’s, I would have said, “You have got to be kidding me!” However, given the current state of the Heavyweight division, we are saying that now and its 2005! At least as far as the WBA version of the title is concerned. James “Light’s Out” Toney improved his professional record to (69-4-2, 43 KOs) and captured the WBA Heavyweight Championship by winning a unanimous decision over John “The Quiet Man” Ruiz (41-6-1, 28 KOs) in Madison Square Garden and Televised on HBO. This was a co-promotion for Goosen Tutor and Don King Productions. The scores were 115-112, 116-111, & 116-111. More
ATLANTA, GA (IB – February 17, 2005) – It’s hard to believe its already been approximately 1 ½ years ago when Cedric “The Boz” Boswell (21-1, 16 KOs) – undefeated at the time, was 3 minutes away from defeating Jameel McCline (31-4-3, 19 KOs) and perhaps landing a world title shot against IBF Heavyweight champion Chris Byrd. However, an exhausted Boswell had ran out of gas in the 10th and final round and McCline pulled off a come-from-behind rally and stopped Boswell at 2:07 of the final round (McCline went on to later face Chris Byrd for the World Title and lost a close split decision).
Well that was then and this is now. Boswell will be headlining Atlanta’s Friday Night series promoted by Undisputed Productions and it will be taking place at Earthlink Live in Atlanta, Georgia on February 18th, 2005. He will be fighting Wallace McDaniel (5-9, 2 KOs), and is 6’8” & weighs 277lbs, in a six round heavyweight bout.
Here is what Boswell had to say about coming back to the ring after this lay off period following that depressing lost to McCline and a shoulder injury. More
January 4, 2005 - Here is a boxing book that needs to be a part of your collection. Even if you are not a die-hard boxing fan, I’m sure you have an awareness of how physically fit these athletes have to be in order to compete at the championship level. Gary Todd has traveled around the world and gained real insight (straight from the champion’s mouths) on how they prepared themselves. This book even tells how the Great Muhammad Ali trained, and what he ate during his training camps, etc. More
(IB – September 25, 2004) – I am practically speechless and it is somewhat difficult for me to even type this story. The former great Pound-for Pound Champion Roy Jones Jr. (49-3, 38 KOs) was just starched with a devastating right hand delivered by Glen Johnson in the 9th round in Memphis, Tennessee in their IBF Light Heavyweight title bout. This fight was televised by HBO.
Memphis has become very famous for fallen heroes and legends. It was bad enough to know that Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in Memphis in April of 1968. Then we had Mike Tyson knocked out badly in Memphis by Lennox Lewis in June of 2002, and now Roy Jones Jr. KO’ed in Memphis in September of 2004! Who would have ever thought this would have happened to Roy since he was already coming off a one-punch KO to the hands of Antonio Tarver back in May of 2004. More

(IB – August 2, 2004) – Now that the after shock of Danny Williams (32-3, 27KOs) knocking out “Iron” Mike Tyson (50-5-2 NCs, 44 KOs) in the 4th round in Louisville, Kentucky this past Friday night has settled in everyone’s mind, its time for many to wonder what will Tyson do now?
Based on what I observed, Mike doesn’t have many options, yet he may have a few left. After all, surely we are not going to just turn our backs on Mike and write him off as done – are we? ATLANTA, GA (IB – July 9, 2004) – Well fans, hopefully you were one of the fortunate ones that were able to tune into ESPN's Friday Night Fights tonight. The very popular Boxing Series took its show on the road to Atlanta, Georgia. The event was promoted by the Atlanta Duo of David Oblas & Austin Wingo under the banner of Undisputed Productions. The headliner for this event was Newnan, Georgia's hometown star Ebo "Extreme Machine" Elder (20-1, 12 KOs) performing against a rugged and very game Fernando Trejo (23-7-4) from Mexico City, Mexico in a 135 lb 10 round bout.
On a night were quick knock outs during the under card bouts were entertaining the Atlanta sold out crowd, the stage was being set to help answer the question; who is Ebo? Is he the truth? Is his ready to step into prime time? You can only imagine the pressure that Ebo was placed under for this event. The hometown crowd screaming emphatically, EBO! EBO! EBO! ESPN broadcasting nationally to millions of homes across the USA. This was Ebo's coming out party. More
LAS VEGAS, NV (IB – June 6, 2004,) – As most observers and fans had expected, Oscar De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins were both successful in winning their pre-requisite fights. What took the night by surprise was the level of difficulty encountered by De La Hoya in route to him winning a unanimous decision win by the score of 115-113 by all three judges over Felix Sturm.
Going into last night’s fights, it was assumed that Hopkins (44-2-1, 31 KOs), who was making his eighth tenth straight title defense, was expected to receive stiffer competition from Robert Allen (36-5, 27 KOs) than De La Hoya (37-3, 29 KOs) was to receive from undefeated and unknown Felix Sturm (20-1, 9 KOs).
However, what we witnessed was a relentless, gut-wrenching performance by Felix Sturm. This German fighter, making his debut in the United States, did more than just hold his on. Sturm showed a good stiff jab that controlled much of the fight, had Oscar’s nose bloody, and had most folks thinking we just saw an upset that was going to prevent the blockbuster showdown between Hopkins and De La Hoya on September 18th. LAS VEGAS, NV
(IB – May 6, 2004,) – In what is being dubbed as a highly-anticipated
rematch on MAY 15th between 3-Time World Champion Roy
Jones
Jr. (49-1, 38 KOs) and #1 contender & former WBC champion Antonio Tarver
(21-2, 17KOs) for the undisputed light heavyweight title, may turn out
to be a one-sided affair.
Let's face it! Roy Jones is, without a doubt, one of the most dominant boxing stars to ever lace up the gloves. He thrives off a challenge.
Every time we think we have an opportunity to see someone compete with Roy, he steps up and proves that it will not happen unless he wants it to happen.
If you replay the first bout between Jones and Tarver, you will see that while Tarver had his moments, those moments only surfaced when an exhausted Roy Jones Jr. laid on the ropes and ALLOWED Tarver to generate his offense. More

LAS VEGAS, NV (IB – September 30, 2003) – What does Cedric "The Boss" Boswell {21-0, 16 KOs} have in common with Legendary former four-time heavyweight champion Evander "The Real Deal" Holyfield (38-6-2, 25 KOs}? ATLANTA, GA (IB – August 31, 2003) – Cedric “The Boss” Boswell (21-0, 16 KOs) is on a quest to make it to the BIG TIME. This 34-year-old Heavyweight Prospect is trying to achieve a dream that only a few heavyweights get to realize. Making it to the “The BIG TIME”. Cedric thought he was almost there when he put his signature on the dotted line to face Vitali Klitschko, the former WBO Heavyweight Champion as part of the Co-feature on the Lennox Lewis vs. Kirk Johnson card in June of 2003. As we know, Johnson was hurt in training camp and pulled out the fight. This left the Boswell/ Klitschko fight falling off the table as well. Would Cedric Boswell have proved to the boxing world that night that he was a force to be reckoned with in the heavyweight division? More
(IB – August 23, 2003) – Like father, like daughter! Imagine that… Laila Ali, now (16-0, 13KOs), re-affirmed for us that the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. On this night, she showed true greatness that was very resembling of her infamous father Muhammad Ali, who by the way, was on hand in the crowd to support his daughter. There were approximately 10,000 fans on hand at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Mississippi and this bout was televised on Pay-Per-View. More

Amazingly enough, this fight did live up the hype and both fighters, once again, granted the fans a treat to what true “machismo” is all about. A toe-to-toe slugfest… More

Vitali Klitschko (32-1, 31 KOs), and viewed by many as the #1 heavyweight in the world, and the biggest threat to Lennox Lewis, will take on Boswell as part of the Lewis vs. Johnson card on June 21, 2003 at the Staple Center in Los Angeles, California. IB – March 29, 2003) – In a fight where
David Tua (42-3-1, 37 KOs), and ranked as the #3 IBF heavyweight contender,
was perceived to be able to overpower the fading Hasim "The Rock" Rahman
(35-4-1, 29 KO's). Well, it didn’t turn out to be that simple. On this
night, despite weighing in heavier than expected at 259 lbs, Hasim “The
Rock” Rahman displayed good boxing fundamentals by controlling this fight
with his jab.
However, the outcome of Rahman’s labor only yielded a draw. Judge Bill
Clancy had it 116-112 for Rahman, while Bob Grasso had it 116-112 for Tua,
and George Hill had it 114-114 and therefore declared a draw. Was this fight
really a draw? This is exactly how I saw it and I scored this fight 114-114.
I gave Rahman the 1st four rounds by effectively using his jab, Tua coming
on winning the middle rounds 5-8 with the more solid punches. I gave Rahman
rounds 9 & 10 by re-establishing the jab, and Tua closing out with rounds 11
& 12 for a total of 6 rounds apiece.

(IB – March 29, 2003) – Once again,
Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins (41-2-1, 30 KOs) demonstrated that his
skills are far too superior for any middleweight in the world today. In
Hopkins’ homecoming in Philadelphia, & televised on HBO, the outcome was
merely watching a champion pitching a shut out. While not so appealing to a
die-hard fight fan, these type of Bernard Hopkins fights are just extensions
to the history books for most middleweight title defenses (16).
His opponent, Morrade Hakkar (29-4, 18 KOs) of France, was the #1
contender and mandatory challenger if Bernard wanted to keep the streak
alive and retain his title. So in essence, how can we fault Hopkins for
taking this fight? If we are to have a bone to pick, our energy may be
better served challenging the ranking system that placed Hakkar as its #1
contender.

NIGHT OF THE DUAL UPSETS – AUSTIN AND WILLIAMS BOTH LOSE
(IB – February 16. 2003) – Normally if you ever hear that Cincinnati went 0 for
2 in one night, you would have to believe the story is pertaining to the
Cincinnati Reds baseball team.
Well, on Saturday night 2/15/03, the story is actually about two prominent boxers from Cincinnati that were on the receiving end of experiencing their first losses as professional fighters. First, on the under card, Ricardo Williams Jr.(8-1, 5 KOs), the 2000 Olympic team silver medalists, took on a replacement fighter by the name of Juan Valenzuela (16-6, 6KOs) in a Jr. Welterweight contest. (IB – February 6. 2003) – There are many observers who are very
curious to see
how “Sugar” Shane Mosley will look in his first return to the ring since two
consecutive and disappointing losses to Vernon “The Viper” Forrest.
Well, this Saturday evening, live from The Mandalay Bay Casino, Las Vegas, NV
(HBO), “Sugar” Shane Mosley (38-2, 35 KOs) will step up to the jr.-middleweight
division to challenge former jr.-middleweight champion Raul Marquez (34-2, 23
KOs).
On the surface, this would appear to merely be an exhibition of “Sugar” Shane
regaining some much needed confidence by showcasing his speed and talent to
overpower Marquez. One would have to consider this as practically a shoo-in for
Mosley to be victorious and assume that he just took a very calculated risk to
regain his path to stardom by selecting Marquez as his opponent.

TSZYU KEEPS THE TITLES BUT IT WASN’T A P4P PERFORMANCE
(IB – January 19. 2003) – As part of Kostya Tszyu’s homecoming in Melbourne,
Australia to defend his undisputed Super Lightweight Titles against "Jessie"
James Leija, this night revealed more than what was expected.
Tszyu (30-1-1, 24 KOs) was the victor in the match due to Leija (43-6-2, 17 KOs)
refusing to come out for the 7th round. What is bizarre about this fight is that
I actually had Leija slightly ahead at the end of the 6th round by a score of
58-56. I was shocked when Leija’s corner notified the referee to stop the fight
with the complaint that Leija's right ear drum felt like it was busted.

IT WAS GATTI TO THE BODY - AND WARD HAD NO ANSWER
INSIDE BOXING (11/23/2002) - While the rematch of Arturo Gatti vs. Mickey Ward didn't quite live up to their 1st bout in May of 2002, it was a very entertaining fight. As more often than not in rematches, one fighter will study where they went wrong and make the necessary adjustments.
That's exactly what Team Gatti did and it paid off "big time". Under the tutelage of trainer Buddy McGirt, we saw a much improved and different fighter in Gatti. In lieu of standing toe-to-toe with Ward and having defense thrown out the window, this Arturo Gatti showcased solid boxing skills with defense, and ring generalship as well. The result yielded a very one-sided unanimous decision win for Gatti. Two judges saw it at 98-91 and the 3rd judge saw it at 98-90. I saw this fight as 99-90 for Gatti. More
MAY THE BEST JAB WIN - BARRERA DOMINATES TAPIA
INSIDE BOXING (11/02/02)- While Marco Antonio Barrera is known for his ability to brawl, it was the amazing success of his jab that grabbed the headline for this fight story. Barrera improved his record to (54-3-3, 39 KOs) with a one-sided domination win over Johnny Tapia, who is now (52-3-2, 28 KOs) with a unanimous 12-round decision.
Barrera showcased a skill-set that can only spell more trouble for any Featherweight that he faces in the future. Marco was able to land an astonishing 179 out of 467 jabs (38%) to control this fight from the opening bell throughout the entire fight. Two of the three judges saw the fight at 118-110, while one judge scored it 116-112. I also saw this fight as 118-110 and was only able to make a case for Johnny winning 2 out of 12 rounds. More

of what sheer determination and courage can do for you. It can land you a
lucrative Seven Million dollar payday and an opportunity to take on one of
Boxing's hottest Superstars of all time!
On September 14th, Fernando Vargas will challenge "The Golden Boy", Oscar De La Hoya in what should be a very action-packed fight that is a sure bet to provide a great deal of entertainment. Vargas, the 24-year-old cross-town rival to De La Hoya in Southern Los Angeles, has the courage of a Lion, and a heart of a Champion. It's these attributes in Vargas that is legitimizing this event, titled BAD BLOOD!
INSIDE BOXING (8/28/02)- Oscar De La Hoya is just like a piece of 14K Gold. I'm sure most of you either own a piece of gold, or know of others that do. When it's new, it is really, really shiny. After it has been worn quite a few times, it becomes dull and loses some of its shine... However, all it takes is a little polishing and it will restore back to the brilliant luster it had when it was new.
This will describe Oscar De La Hoya come Saturday Night on September 14th when he takes on Fernando Vargas in their World Superwelterweight/Jr.Middleweight Championship bout live from the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas (Televised on PAY Per View) starting @ 9:00 PM EST.
LESS THAN A MINUTE TO WIN IT - TUA KOs MOORER IN THIRTY SECONDS!
INSIDE BOXING (8/17 02) - Well fans, it came off like a boxing commercial showcasing how a fighter can get KNOCKED OUT, a thirty second clip! David "Tuaman" Tua (41-3, 36 KOs) did exactly what a devastating puncher is suppose to do, take it straight to your opponent. The "Tuaman" disposed of former two-time World Heavyweight Champion Michael "Double M" Moorer (43-3-1, 34, KOs) thirty seconds into the 1st round with a solid overhand right, followed by a left hook and another right to the top of the head that sent Moorer crashing through the ropes. WILL MOORER BE TUA MUCH? - A Look at the David Tua vs. Michael Moorer Bout

INSIDE BOXING (8/12/02) - On August 17th, live from the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, NJ, David "Tuaman" Tua (40-3, 35 KOs), and ranked 3rd - IBF, 6th - WBC, 8th -WBA, will take on the former two-time World Heavyweight Michael "Double M" Moorer (43-2-1, 34, KOs).
So, it's a question of whether Moorer will be too much for Tua? I seriously doubt it! This fight has the potential to either be very spectacular or very dull. In order for it to be spectacular, the following would have to happen. Moorer, the southpaw, would have to turn the clock back to when he was a devastating puncher that would look for the opportunity to knock his opponent out. We haven't seen that Michael Moorer since back when he out slugged "Smokin" Bert Cooper back in May of 1992 (Wow, that was a decade ago).
INSIDEBOXING (7/27/2002) - Well fans if you happen to have missed this fight, there is no need to feel disappointed. When I stated in the pre-fight story its time for "Quietman" to make some noise, I guess he must have took that to mean CRY FOUL! This is exactly what happened in this fight. Referee Joe Cortez called a halt to this bout in the 10th round after a series of called low blows. The key word is CALLED low blows. Thanks to Ruiz's acting ability, he sold the referee on these fouls. The 1st one, which occurred in round one, I can accept that one. It was clearly low. The remaining ones in Round 4, Round 7, and finally in Round 10, I viewed each of them as questionable and Quietman's escape route out of a fight that was clearly exposing his lack of talent! More
IT'S TIME FOR "QUIET MAN" TO MAKE SOME NOISE - THE JOHNSON VS RUIZ BOUT
INSIDE BOXING (07/25/02) - On Saturday Night, June 27th, live from Mandalay
Bay Events Center in
Las Vegas, NV, the current WBA Heavyweight Champion John
"The Quietman" Ruiz (37-4, -1, 27 KOs) will put his belt on the line
against undefeated Canadian #1 contender Kirk "Bubba" Johnson (32-0-1,
23 KOs) in what is hoped to be an interesting fight.
Let's think about this, Ruiz is the WBA Champion, holds a win (if you want to call it that), and a draw against Legendary 4-time Heavyweight Champion Evander Holyfield on his resume, is promoted by "the King himself," Don King, and yet is lightly regarded and viewed as a legitimate Champion.
VERNON PREVAILS AGAIN OVER "SUGAR" SHANE!
INSIDE BOXING (7/20/02)- In front of a crowd of more than 15K fans live from Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Vernon "The Viper" Forrest once again proved that his style is too much for Mosley to overcome and silenced any skeptics who viewed the 1st episode, back in January of 2002, a fluke!
Although Shane was able to put up a more competitive fight after merely invoking a tactical style more fitting for a game of chess than a fight, he appeared to have too much respect for Vernon's right hand, which cost him his 2nd consecutive loss. Granted, Mosley was able to avoid getting hit by the trees, however, there was much more lurking in the Forrest. For example, an effective use of a stiff left jab, ability to clinch when needing to, over hand rights with harmful intentions to keep Mosley at bay, and just overall ring generalship is what led to another unanimous decision victory over "Sugar" Shane Mosley. After the fight Shane (now 38-2, 35 KOs), said it best, "He beat me twice, and I can't complain."
THE REMATCH - "SUGAR" SHANE ATTEMPTS TO WALK THROUGH FORREST WITHOUT GETTING HIT BY A TREE
INSIDE BOXING (7/15/02)- On July 20th, 2002, live from Conseco Fieldhouse in
Indianapolis, brought to you by HBO, "Sugar" Shane Mosley (38-1, 35
KOs) will attempt to avenge the only blemish on his record by taking on Vernon
"The Viper" Forrest (34-0, 26 KOs) in a highly anticipated rematch for
the WBC Welterweight Championship of the World.
In their 1st bout from MSG, NY on January 26th, 2002, Vernon Forrest was introduced to the world outside of the immediate boxing circles as he clearly dominated "Sugar" Shane with a one-sided unanimous decision of 115-110, 117-108, 118-108, which also included a pair of knock downs in the 2nd round. This begs to question, what makes Mosley believe he can walk through the Forrest without getting hit by a tree?
IS THERE A DR. IN THE RING? - KLITSCHKO DESTROYS MERCER IN SIX ROUNDS
INSIDE BOXING -(June 29, 2002) - Well boxing fans, a couple of key questions were answered tonight in Atlantic City, NJ as Wladimir Klitschko (39-1, 36 KOs) merely just performed an operation on Ray Mercer. Instead of the question is there a Dr. in the house? The question is now is there a Dr. in the ring? ANSWER - YES, and his name is Dr. Wladimir Klitschko, the WBO Heavyweight Champion. How fitting for him to enter the ring to the tune that is also utilized to describe HBO, "Simply the Best", because on this night, the statement accurately describes Klitschko's performance. More
SO JUST HOW MERCILESS IS RAY MERCER TODAY? - A LOOK AT THE KLITSCHKO VS MERCER FIGHT
INSIDE BOXING -(June 26, 2002) - Tune in this Saturday night, June 29th, and the question will be answered. At The Trump Taj Mahal, in Atlantic City, NJ, Wladimir Klitschko (38-1, 35 KOs) will defend his WBO Heavyweight crown against "Merciless" Ray Mercer (30-4-1, 22 KOs). This match-up will feature two former Olympic Gold Medal Champions. Ray Mercer won the Gold in the 1988 Olympics in Korea as a Heavyweight, and Wladimir Klitschko won the Gold in 1996 in Atlanta, as a Super Heavyweight.
If Klitschko were going against the Ray Mercer of ten years ago, it would be classified as a mismatch and Ray Mercer, in all likelihood, would destroy Klitschko. If you recall the Mercer vs Tommy "the Duke" Morrison fight of 1991, you will know why he is called "Merciless". He put one of the worse beatings in the history of Heavyweight boxing on Tommy Morrison in their fight. Mercer pounded Morrison so hard; that it put the referee in such a state of astonishment, that he forgot that it was his job to stop the fight!
MEMPHIS MEMORIES - THE LEWIS VS TYSON FIGHT Click here to go to full coverage
INSIDE BOXING - 6/15/02 -Well boxing fans, here is my recap of my wonderful. experience covering the LEWIS/TYSON bout the weekend of June 8th in Memphis, TN.
THU - 6/6/02 - Upon my immediate arrival in the early am, it was apparent that the city of Memphis was pumped up with excitement! The streets were lined with LEWIS/TYSON banners, the store fronts had boxing paraphernalia on display, and the Radisson Hotel, where I stayed downtown, welcomed me with open arms and red carpet treatment.
My 1st order of business called for checking in at the Memphis Convention Center to obtain Temporary Credentials, and to have my picture taken. The process ran smoothly by just exiting the Radisson and walking two short blocks to catch the trolley that transported me directly to the MCC... More

NOW THAT WAS A REAL "GOOD" DEAL! - HOLYFIELD
INSIDE BOXING (06/01/02)- Boxing fans were treated to a REAL GOOD DEAL on Saturday night, thanks to Evander Holyfield and Hasim Rahman. From the sound of the opening bell, it became obvious that both of these men came to win by their determined efforts of exchanging thunderous punching with harmful intentions. However, it was Evander who demonstrated, once again, that he is still very much alive in the Heavyweight race of boxing!... More
